Very nice, but totally impractical. People are trying to find their pets. Strangers on the Internet are trying to help people find their pets. Please post photos of all the Katrina animals you rescued with information on where they are now, instead of having a Hollywood production slideshow with music. It is simply not practical for people trying to locate an animal to have to sit through a music video.
Agreed with anonymous on the impracticality. I'm sure those are nice pictures and will make people feel good. I wouldn't know. I couldn't get the show to load in a satisfactory time frame.
People are in shelters and in public libraries on time-limited computers trying to find their pets. Home-computer users are trying to help them. I last heard there are 230 different web sites with information about Katrina rescues. Some have pics, some don't, but we don't know until we check them out. We are on a time limit to ward off the adopting out of many of these pets.
There needs to be a more practical, quicker, more functional way of seeing these photos. I'd suggest a thumbnail page, with the option to view enlarged images AND the option for the slideshow. Thanks.
Thanks for your comments about posting the animals for people to be able to find them easily. We are feverishly developing a website that is solely Rescue for Ruffugees animals. The database is coming along and we hope to have it posted within the next week or so. This is all being done by volunteers and has all happened so quickly without a previous infrastruture. The animals are currently posted on www.petfinder.org, but navigating it has been troublesome for most. Please bear with us in helping the animals and their families.
Wow, you all have done such a good job in the time that you have had and the resources (or lack thereof)... Kudos to all that was able to be there to help. I really wish I could have been one of them, BUT on another note, it is a pretty well known fact that the animals are listed both on Petfinder.com and Petharbor.com...
Almost every site that I've been to states that so at least there's only a couple places to try first. I really hope these pets can be reunited with their lost families.

Rescue for Refugees -- thank you for your reply. It is reassuring to know that in addition to your slide show, your Katrina rescues are posted to Petfinder.
Contrary to what many think, NOT all shelters and organizations which have received Katrina pets have put them on Petfinder or Pet Harbor. I have been looking for one dog in particular for FOUR WEEKS now and I know she was rescued because her rescue was broadcast on television! But she is no where to be found online.
My biggest fear with following the rescues and going to petfinder, etc... Some just don't have enough information, some don't have pictures.... I really fear they won't be reunited... I really hope the majority of them do or go to good, caring homes!!!
No offense but Petfinder does not have the most up to date information. Perhaps you've heard the Pedie story? Whoever has these dogs should post them on their own websites now. Relying on the diasster datebases at Petfinder and Petharbor is not a good idea. Photos are too dark, breeds are misindentified -- did ya hear the one about the Poodle that looks just like a Doxie? -- and who knows if the genders given are correct. I'm completely frustrated and I'm not even an owner of a missing dog. I can't imagine what a nightmare it is for them.
PS I know for a fact that one of the rescues on your list to the right has four Katrina dogs and they are not posted on their website.
